Stop the “Public Charge” Rule

November 1, 2018 by Tana Liu-Beers

The administration has proposed a new rule that would drastically remake the legal immigration system to favor wealthy and privileged immigrants. The rule would discriminate against people based on their age, disability, health, income level, credit score, English proficiency, and job history. It would hurt many families in our churches, including our pastors and seminary students as they try to stay in the U.S. legally.

Please tell the government you oppose its new “public charge” rule. Here’s how:

  1. Submit a comment online by December 10.
  2. Ask your friends and congregation to join you. Host a comments party. Set up a table at church.
  3. Get counted. Tell Sharon Stanley-Rea that you spoke out for immigrants.
